JUNCAO TECHNOLOGY TRAINING FOR PACIFIC ISLAND COUNTRIES

February 24, 2024

Thirty-four representatives from around the Pacific Region are currently attending a one-week training at the Legalega Research Station in Nadi to try and harness more knowledge on the Juncao Technology.

During the official opening yesterday, Deputy Secretary for Agriculture Development, Dr. Tekini Nakidakida thanked the government of the People’s Republic of China for facilitating the training and bringing across agricultural officers and entrepreneurs from the region.

“We thank you sincerely for making this training available to the rest of the Pacific Island countries and in sharing the Juncao Technology knowledge for the benefit of humanity. It is proven that it has benefitted China in leaps and bounds and is now spreading around the world,” said Dr. Nakidakida.

“These efforts will surely go a long way after the training when our dear participants return home to spread the gospel of Juncao Technology. It is indeed a tool that will alleviate poverty and create a sustainable environment for everyone.”

Dr. Nakidakida added that since the demonstration site in Legalega was opened, around 2,400 participants have been trained on Juncao Technology in the 52 trainings conducted.

Monika Tautuiaki is a livestock officer from Tonga and is also attending the week-long training.

She says that she is fortunate to have been chosen to represent her country and organisation as the Juncao Technology will surely assist her island home through various means.

“As participants we are grateful to the Government of the People’s Republic of China and Fiji’s Ministry of Agriculture and Waterways for inviting us to attend this training. We are from different countries with diverse cultural, historical and political settings,” said Ms. Tautuiaki.

“Our presence here for the training only signifies and strengthen our efforts in combating poverty and unemployment using the Juncao Technology. It will also enable us to use the right tools in teaching our farmers back in our countries on new opportunities available through the Juncao Technology,” added Ms. Tautuiaki.

During the course of the week, participants will learn more on planting, harvesting and milling of Juncao grass as well as Juncao mushroom substrate mixing, bagging and sterilization.

The training will be facilitated by officers of the Ministry of Agriculture and Waterways, Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University (FAFU) China-Fiji Juncao Technology Demonstration Centre, National Engineering Research Centre of Juncao Technology, China-Pacific Island Countries Juncao Technology Demonstration Centre and the National Forestry and Grassland Administration for Juncao Science and Technology.
