FIJI AND ISRAEL STRENGTHEN BILATERAL TIES THROUGH AGRICULTURAL COOPERATION

Honourable Sharren Haskel, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel, has reaffirmed the strong and enduring partnership between Israel and Fiji during a recent courtesy visit to the Assistant Minister for Agriculture and Waterways, Honourable Inosi Kuridrani.

In her remarks, Hon. Haskel commended the positive collaboration between the two nations, particularly in the field of agriculture.

She highlighted the expansion of agricultural internship opportunities for young Fijians in Israel, building upon the success of the existing 11-month internship programme at the Arava International Centre for Agricultural Training (AICAT), conducted in partnership with the Navuso Agricultural Technical Institute.

She expressed her deep appreciation to the Government and the people of Fiji for their continued friendship and support. She reiterated Israel’s commitment to working closely with Fiji in key areas such as agriculture, climate change, infrastructure development, capacity building, and investment opportunities.

In response, Hon. Kuridrani conveyed his sincere gratitude to Hon. Haskel and her delegation for their visit, noting that the Ministry of Agriculture and Waterways remains committed to strengthening its collaboration with Israel to further enhance Fiji’s agricultural sector and build resilience through knowledge exchange and innovation.

Also present at the meeting were the Deputy Secretary for Agriculture Development, Dr Tekini Nakidakida, the Director of Land Resource and Planning Development, Mr Amena Banuve and the Principal of the Navuso Agricultural Technical Institute, Mr Uraia Waibuta.
