THOUSAND INVESTMENTS FAMILY COOPERATIVE LIMITED CELEBRATES HANDOVER OF NEW TRACTOR

October 27, 2025

Members of the Thousand Investments Family Cooperative Limited of Naviyago Village in the outskirts of Lautoka, celebrated today after receiving a brand-new tractor from the Minister for Agriculture and Waterways, Honourable Tomasi Tunabuna.

The cooperative, a community-driven enterprise, is dedicated to fostering family-oriented entrepreneurship and income generation.

The assistance was provided through the Farm Mechanisation Programme, under which the cooperative paid one-third of the total cost of the tractor while the Ministry of Agriculture and Waterways covered the remainder.

In handing over the tractor to the cooperative elders, Hon. Tunabuna said the assistance reflects Government’s continued commitment to empowering rural communities through sustainable agricultural support.

He encouraged members to make full use of the tractor to improve land preparation and enhance productivity, noting that mechanisation is key to increasing efficiency and income opportunities for farmers.

Hon. Tunabuna also commended the cooperative for its initiative and unity in working towards shared goals, adding that such partnerships play a vital role in achieving food security and promoting rural development.

Acting Chairman of the Thousand Investments Family Cooperative, Mr. Kavekini Vakacegu, said today will forever be etched in their hearts as they celebrate the arrival of their new tractor.

“The handover of this 4x4 tractor marks not just the acquisition of new equipment, but a new chapter filled with promise and opportunity for all our members. As a family-oriented cooperative, our mission is to provide a range of financial services—savings, loans, and investment opportunities—that drive us towards our common goals,” said Mr. Vakacegu.

“We are proud to be a cooperative that opens its doors to individuals who share common interests and goals. Every member benefits from our shared resources, support, and collective strength. Through our platform, members can pool their resources for collective investments, increasing their potential for returns and fostering a sense of collaboration.”

He added that Thousand Investments holds a deep commitment to social responsibility.

“We actively engage in community development projects that enhance the welfare of our members and the community at large. Our cooperative is governed by its members through democratic processes, where every voice is heard and each member plays a crucial role in shaping our operations and decisions.”

Mr. Vakacegu shared that their journey began with a small retail business, playing a crucial role in supporting the local community and laying a strong foundation for growth.

“Today, with the addition of this 4x4 tractor, we are diversifying our efforts into agricultural investments. This endeavour will empower our members through new opportunities in farming and sustainability, transforming the landscape of our cooperative.”

Looking ahead, he said the cooperative plans to expand its operations into financial services, offering tailored savings accounts and personal and business loans to meet the unique needs of its members.

Thousand Investments Family Cooperative Limited is also committed to providing training and development programs that enhance financial literacy, empowering members to make informed investment choices.

“I would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Hon. Tunabuna and the ministry staff. Their support and dedication to agriculture and cooperative development have made this moment possible. With the handover of this tractor, we are now better equipped to serve our members and enhance our community's prosperity,” Mr. Vakacegu said.
