ASSISTANT MINISTER KURIDRANI’S FIRST OVALAU VISIT SIGNALS STRONG SUPPORT FOR LOCAL AGRICULTURE

October 22, 2025

Since assuming office as the Assistant Minister for Agriculture and Waterways, the Honourable Inosi Kuridrani undertook his inaugural visit to Ovalau last week, where he engaged directly with farmers and conducted site inspections of key agricultural and community development initiatives supported by the Ministry.

His visit included the Bureta Agriculture Productivity and Value (APV) site supported by KOICA, the Heritage Kava in Lovoni, and the Tokou Kava Bar, two promising ventures that have progressed with Ministry assistance.

Both received support helping them move up the ladder from small-scale operations to more structured, community-serving businesses.

The Assistant Minister also met with subsistence farmers and held Talanoa sessions with the farming community in Navuloa village, listening to their challenges and ideas for improving farming and livelihoods.

“It’s encouraging to see the dedication of our farmers and the progress of these projects and with continued support and teamwork, we can help these communities thrive,” said Hon Kuridrani.

“Our farmers, whether commercial or subsistence, play a vital role in feeding our nation, the hardworking farmers of Ovalau and the wider Lomaiviti group continue to show resilience and dedication, and the Ministry is doing its best to support them in building a stronger future.”

The Ministry remains committed to empowering rural communities through sustainable agriculture, value-added initiatives, and open dialogue.
