Irrigation Kit Support Programme To Continue

August 4, 2022

Thirty farmers are earmarked to benefit from the Irrigation Kit Support Programme under the Ministry of Agriculture during this 2022-2023 new financial year.

Making the announcement today (04.08.22) at the Legalega Research Station in Nadi, Minister for Agriculture, Waterways and Environment Hon. Dr. Mahendra Reddy said this was a proactive approach taken by the Ministry as part of its Climate Smart practices.

“Support for irrigation kits will see the Ministry working more proactively to enhance the use of water resources more efficiently and to the advantage of farmers all year around.

“Thirty farmers will receive complete irrigation sets thanks to a $72,500 allocation which aims to extend agricultural output availability during the off-season.

This initiative has been scaled up in response to Climate Change and is in line with the Ministry of Agriculture’s Climate Smart practices. The provision of the irrigation kits to farmers would ensure an extended production and supply of crops during the off-season.

This assistance includes the provision of irrigation kit implements targeting subsistence and semi-commercial farmers.

A standard irrigation Kit that includes a water pump with all necessary accessories along with a suction hose, 100m delivery flat hose, and 100m soaker hose will be provided to successful applicants.
