Minister for Agriculture, Rural and Maritime Development, Waterways and Environment Hon. Mahendra Reddy, today extended an invitation to other potential investors to establish their operational office here in Fiji.

This invitation was extended by Minister Reddy during the launch of large scale commercial agricultural venture in Naroro Village, Sigatoka.

“We are mandated to grow agriculture in national interest. Growing agriculture in national interests will serve a number of purposes”

“It will bring in the much needed foreign exchange via export of both primary commodities as well as processed products.”

“It will allow us to engage our labourers into meaningful and rewarding enterprises.”

“It will draw in and attract idle fertile land into productive use thus ensuring the owners of land get maximum returns.”

Minister Reddy added this new venture will provide a source of livelihood for the rural dwellers; and will assist Fijians in meeting the food and nutritional security objective.

The venture will be led by Mr. Suren Kumar, originally from here in Naroro Sigatoka who now resides in Sydney Australia.

Minister Reddy also said he is pleased to note that Mr. Kumar along with his local partners, Mr. Jiten Kumar and Mr. Jai Kumar are venturing into large scale goat and sheep farming as well as high valued crops.
