Farmers across the nation are urged to submit their applications via the online platform accessible on the Ministry of Agriculture's website and social media pages for the 2022–2023 agriculture programs.
The Minister for Agriculture, Hon. Dr. Mahendra Reddy, is urging all farming communities to take advantage of the opportunity and submit their application before the deadline of August 31, 2022, in order to be considered for the agriculture development assistance.
"This fiscal year, the Ministry of Agriculture will offer direct assistance to farmers, agro-processors, and exporters. With the deadline for the closure of applications approaching, we once more make this announcement to inform everyone and make sure that every farmer has the opportunity to learn about this assistance and to apply," said Minister Reddy.
The 28 initiatives that are available this year, he continued, make it imperative that all farmers and stakeholders take advantage of the $29.2 million budgetary allotment that was made to support these programs, in addition to other ongoing Ministry programs that would be implemented simultaneously with these new ones.
The packages this year, as mentioned by Hon. Reddy, would be divided into two main categories: one for farmers who had never received any kind of agricultural assistance before, and a second group for farmers who had previously received assistance but were making progress in their individual agricultural ventures and could grow their farming businesses even further.
The 28 programs include ongoing development initiatives that were put in place during the previous fiscal year 2021–2022, as well as some fresh and revitalized initiatives that are intended to further encourage the growth of commercial agriculture in the nation.
"On the Ministry of Agriculture website, you can electronically access the information about the initiatives. We encourage farmers, owners of agribusinesses, and exporters of agricultural products to apply for this assistance," he added.
The application packages for these programmes are available via the Ministry of Agriculture website at www.agriculture.gov.fj and its social media platforms.
