Ministry of Agriculture Participates in HOTEC Show 2022

November 2, 2022

The Ministry of Agriculture in collaboration with agro-produce suppliers including farmers, women’s group and agricultural product suppliers participated in this year’s Hotel and Tourism Trade Exhibition (HOTEC) show.

The event resumed after a lapse of two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was held at the Denarau Island Convention Centre (DICC) at Sheraton Fiji Resort over two days in Nadi from 27-28 October, 2022.

HOTEC is Fiji’s biggest hospitality tradeshow aimed at creating a platform for interested hospitality suppliers to show case their products and services to the local hoteliers in creating and building business relationships and connecting with new and existing clients. It is an event for product manufacturers and suppliers to exhibit their products and services.

As one of the Ministry of Agriculture’s core functions, such an event helps to promote and assist in the marketing of agricultural produce locally and internationally.

The 2022 HOTEC exhibition event was an opportune time to expose local agro produce and product suppliers to hoteliers, chef and potential wholesale and retail distributors.  It provided a window of opportunity for the Ministry’s stakeholders such as the local farmers or producers, processors and wholesalers to showcase their ideas, produce and products. The involvement of the stakeholders strengthens its collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture.

At the event this year, the Ministry’s booth displayed a wide variety of locally produced fruits; vegetables and value added or processed products represented by farmers such as Farmboy, and some of the major agro product suppliers including Agro Marketing Authority, Food Processors Fiji Ltd, Zonah United, Coconut Company (Fiji) Ltd and Bula Coffee.

The Ministry of Agriculture also extended its invitation to the Ministry of Women and some of its Women’s groups in the Western Division who also displayed a range of products including Honey, Virgin Coconut Oil, Coconut soap and handcrafted and woven displays. This collaboration ensures and encourages the participation of Women in Agriculture.

The Ministry of Agriculture aims to continue this collaboration with its stakeholders and hopes to improve its participation in similar events in the future.
