The Agricultural Marketing Authority (AMA) must lead the way in processing and marketing agricultural produce in the Northern Division.

This was highlighted by the Minister for Agriculture and Waterways, Hon. Vatimi Rayalu during his visit to the AMA facility in Savusavu today.

He said that AMA should be at the forefront of processing and adding value to agricultural produce.

Hon. Minister urged the staff of AMA to work with farmers and have a positive relationship with them.

The role of AMA is to buy produce from farmers in rural and maritime areas in order to bring the market to the doorsteps of rural farming households and generate a rural economy to improve their livelihoods.

“Use your innovative and strategic thinking to help grow Fiji's agricultural industry - it is an important part of the nation's economy, and you have an important role in it,” he said.
