Receiving a new tractor from the Ministry of Agriculture and Waterways is truly a blessing for the Serua All Nations Christian Fellowship branch as they are now able to expand their farming venture.
Yesterday, the Minister for Agriculture and Waterways, Honourable Vatimi Rayalu, handed over a tractor to the branch which was made possible through the ministry’s Farm Mechanisation Program.
Speaking to the members in Navua, Hon. Rayalu said that the machine could greatly enhance the church branch's ability to manage land, support agricultural projects and also engage in community service.
“It’s a great example of how collaboration between government and community organizations can lead to positive outcomes. This new tractor will surely enhance and improve productivity and support the church in new ways,” said Hon. Rayalu.
“Ensure to fully utilise the assistance to meet the growing agricultural demands in our markets. We have to work smarter now and plant according to the market demands.”
The Serua ANCF farm was established last year and they are farming on a total of 14 acres of land.
The farmers in the group formed their cooperative to support the vision of the Serua ANCF Ministry in terms of supporting their church members as well as the needs of the church.
They now have a total of 40, 000 Uro Ni Vonu, 10, 000 Maleka Dina and 10, 000 Jabeni varieties of dalo on their farm.
The members vow to increase their production in the coming months and are grateful to the Ministry of Agriculture and Waterways for the timely assistance.
