A comprehensive training session on Dalo (taro) husbandry practices was organized at Navatuyaba Village, Toga in Rewa and was attended by a total of 40 participants, including local farmers and 10 resource personnel from the Ministry of Agriculture and Waterways as well as various organizations.
The training aimed to enhance
the knowledge and skills of participants in dalo production, post-harvest
handling, storage techniques, pest and disease management, as well as effective
weed control.
Objectives of the Training:
To educate farmers
on best practices in dalo husbandry.
To share methods
for increasing dalo production.
To provide guidance
on post-harvest handling and storage of dalo.
To address pest and
disease control measures specific to dalo.
To discuss weed
management strategies, focusing on African Tulip and Wedelia.
To emphasize the
importance of consistency in supply from farmers to meet market demands.
Representatives from Ben's Trading Limited discussed the significance of consistent supply from farmers and encouraged farmers to produce dalo in larger quantities to meet market needs and improve profitability.
The training at Navatuyaba village was a success, equipping local farmers with valuable information and skills to enhance their dalo production.
