Agriculture Officer (Tailevu South), Rajeshni Hari in highlighting the objective of the one-day training said that the primary aim is to enlighten the farmers on the management practices of turmeric, post-harvest handling practices, and the marketing aspects since they have been planting these commodities.

“Our role is to equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to enhance their farming practices and improve their livelihoods and at the same time create awareness on spice farming,” explained Ms Hari.

Mr Josevata Kanabicibici, a retired school teacher from Tubalevu village in Namara said the training was an eye-opener for most of them and they learned a lot of new things.

“Since I grew up, my parents have been growing turmeric, until today we still rely on this commodity as a source of livelihood,” said Mr Kanacibicibi.
