MINISTER RAYALU CONTINUES NORTHERN TOUR

Today, the Minister for Agriculture and Waterways, Honourable Vatimi Rayalu visited the Tukavesi Agriculture Station in Cakaudrove, to see the progress of service delivery and also the operations carried out.

He also held discussions with villagers of Navonu and Loa in the Tikina of Cakaudrove Vanua and listened to the challenges that they face in terms of agricultural development and how the government can support them in overcoming these challenges.

Hon. Rayalu encouraged the farmers to utilise the land as well as the services and assistance provided by the ministry.

“Cakaudrove Province has a huge potential and there is so much land that is lying idle which needs to be utilised. Please talk with the agricultural officers and tell them the strengths that you have and the challenges as well. Together, we will work out solutions to ensure that you return to the land and utilise it to its full potential," said Hon. Rayalu.

He further emphasized the importance of maximizing the available resources in the region to boost agricultural productivity and economic growth.

"The government is here to support you, but it's essential that you also take the initiative and engage with the services provided by the Ministry of Agriculture and Waterways," he added.

Hon. Rayalu highlighted the role of agricultural officers in assisting farmers with advice, training, and access to modern farming techniques, ensuring that they can improve yields and sustainably manage their land.

He reassured the communities that the government is dedicated to finding solutions that will help farmers overcome these hurdles, ensuring long-term prosperity for the agricultural sector in their respective communities.

He also encouraged local farmers to take advantage of agricultural extension services and continue adopting innovative farming techniques that are vital for the future of Fiji's agriculture.
