The Ministry of Agriculture and Waterways Farm Management under the Land Resource Planning and Development Division (LRPD) has officially handed over a comprehensive farm plan to the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF), reinforcing its commitment to land utilization, food security, and agricultural education at the Joint Logistics Command Procurement Center at Walu Bay.

This initiative aligns with the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to support various stakeholders in enhancing farm productivity and sustainability.

The RFMF farm located at the Fiji Training Group in Nasinu, initially established in 1987 has been a cornerstone for food production and agricultural training within the force.

With the expertise of the Ministry, the farm plan will serve as a guiding framework to maximize land potential, improve resource management, and strengthen the agricultural capabilities of military personnel.

In addition to providing technical guidance, the Ministry stands ready to deliver specialized training in orchard management and other key farming techniques, ensuring that RFMF officers and personnel gain valuable hands-on experience in sustainable agriculture.

This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to national development, where agricultural productivity plays a pivotal role in economic resilience and food security.

Speaking on behalf of the RFMF, Captain (Navy) Lepani Vaniqi stated, "This farm is an important step forward in ensuring that our military personnel understand the value of land and agriculture."

“It aims at strengthening agricultural productivity within the RFMF and fostering a model farm for veterans, Territorial Force (TF), and Regular Force (RF) personnel while demonstrating the power of effective land utilization."

“The farm is not just about food production-it represents an investment in skills, sustainability and long term resilience, with the Ministry’s support, we are equipping our personnel with practical agricultural knowledge that will benefit the force, veterans and future officers,” he said.

Director LRPD Amena Banuve emphasized the Ministry’s dedication to fostering agricultural growth across different sectors.

“The Ministry of Agriculture and Waterways continues to provide farm plans and training across various communities including institutions such as the RFMF. By working together we strengthen Fiji’s agricultural capacity and open new opportunities for learning, growth and sustainable development,” he said.

"We look forward to seeing the positive outcomes of this initiative, in addition to technical assistance, the Ministry stands ready to provide training in orchard management and other key agricultural areas to ensure the continued success of the RFMF farm."

This partnership reflects a shared commitment to agricultural innovation, sustainability, and resource utilization, underscoring the value of coordinated efforts in national food security and economic development.
