SUVA, FIJI – The Ministry of Agriculture and Waterways, in collaboration with the Fiji National University (FNU) and other key stakeholders, is pleased to announce the delivery of the inaugural Fiji Veterinary Examination (FVE).
The Fiji Veterinary Examination has been specifically designed to enable graduates of FNU’s Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry programme to meet the internationally recognised "Day One Competences" – a set of essential skills and knowledge required for safe and effective practice in the veterinary profession.
About the Fiji Veterinary Examination (FVE)
The FVE is a one-off assessment for graduates of FNU’s veterinary programme. It will be conducted over a two-months period from 14 July to 12 September 2025. The examination programme will include:
· Three weeks of refresher training to prepare candidates.
· One-week study break, followed by Exam Paper 1 and marking.
· One week for Exam Paper 2 and result finalisation with the Registrar).
· One week of practical training.
· Two to three weeks of practical assessment, (FVE result finalisation with the Registrar).
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates wishing to sit for the FVE must:
· Hold a Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry degree from Fiji National University.
· Be recognised as a person of good standing under Fiji’s laws.
· Have qualifications that are registrable under the Fiji Veterinary Surgeons Act of 1956.
Additional Information
· The examination will be conducted in English.
· It will be offered only once.
· No fees will be charged for this examination.
This milestone event marks a significant step towards strengthening Fiji’s veterinary services and ensuring that veterinary professionals entering the workforce are fully equipped to meet both national and international standards.
