May 13, 2025

A farmers training was successfully completed for members of the Wainikai Farmers Cooperative early this month.

Held in Cerumadave Settlement in Naduna, Macuata, the training was attended by a total of 50 farmers, including women, men, and youths who took part in the two day farming as a business training.

The cooperative had recently received a tractor with implements under the ministry's Farm Mechanization Program and the training aimed to impart the members with knowledge on financial literacy and how to go about farming in terms of profitability, sustainability and resiliency.

The group have plans to utilise a total of 160 hectares of land with rice, assorted vegetables, pineapples and cattle farming.

The Farm Management Unit of the ministry's Land Resources and Planning Division have been conducting similar trainings across Fiji to equip farmers with knowledge on how to run farming as a business.
