Representatives attending the 47th Regional RCA meeting in Nadi was hosted this evening to a welcome dinner by the Assistant Minister for Agriculture and Waterways, Honourable Tomasi Tunabuna.
In welcoming the representatives, Hon. Tunabuna said that the Government and the people of Fiji are delighted to host such a distinguished gathering of experts, and partners from across the Asia Pacific region.
“Your presence here is a testament to the enduring value of international cooperation and the power of shared goals. You have traveled great distances, across time zones and borders to be here. This alone reflects your commitment, not only to the purpose of your visit, but to the greater goal that we all share and that is strengthening international cooperation and building a better, more connected, more peaceful world,” said Hon. Tunabuna.
“At the heart of our collaboration lies a fundamental truth and that is that we are stronger together when we act together. No country, no matter how powerful or resourceful, cannot address today’s challenges in isolation. The issues we face, whether economic inequality, cyber security, migration or sustainable development are complex and interconnected. They require cooperation that is genuine, inclusive and forward looking.”
Hon. Tunabuna thanked RCA for choosing Fiji as their venue for this regional meeting.
“Fiji including other Pacific Island Countries poses limited knowledge and resources for the safe use of nuclear energy within our region. Meetings as such will provide more awareness that atomic energy is not only for making destructive weapons but can also be used for improving human life on this earth.”
Hon. Tunabuna also encouraged representatives to take a moment to reflect on the deeper purpose of the meeting.
“In a world that often emphasizes division, gatherings like this remind us of our shared humanity. They remind us that behind every flag is a community, behind every policy is a person and behind every nation is a story.”
The 47th Regional Meeting of National RCA Representatives meeting will continue tomorrow with country projects presentations.
