The Ratu Sukuna Day celebrations at Subrail Park in Labasa brought together government dignitaries, diplomatic representatives, students, farmers, scholars, and members of the public to honor the visionary leadership of Ratu Sir Lala Sukuna.
Among those present was Assistant Minister for Agriculture and Waterways, Hon. Tomasi Tunabuna, who joined the commemoration of this historic occasion, reflecting on Ratu Sukuna’s enduring influence on Fiji’s agricultural and economic foundations.

His pioneering efforts in establishing the iTaukei Land Trust Board (TLTB) ensured that landowners could benefit from structured agricultural leases, enabling farmers to cultivate and contribute to national food security.
"Ratu Sukuna understood that agriculture is the backbone of Fiji’s economy. His vision ensured that land was not only preserved but also utilized effectively to empower communities, strengthen livelihoods, and drive national progress," said Hon. Tunabuna.
