FAW AWARENESS CONTINUES

June 12, 2025

The Ministry of Agriculture and Waterways, in collaboration with the Biosecurity Authority of Fiji (BAF), has been actively conducting awareness campaigns on the Fall Armyworm for farmers around the country.

With the current infestations reported on most farms in the West between Sigatoka and Rakiraki, the team is continuing with enhanced field surveillance and early detection systems to control new outbreaks and the response effort on farms infested with Fall Army Worm.

Officials have implemented containment and control measures on the infested farms.

The Ministry urges farmers to stay vigilant, check their crops for FAW signs, and report any suspected infestations to the BAF Helpline 5995 immediately.

Farmers are also advised to secure BAF approval before transporting maize and sweetcorn to uninfected areas to avoid further spread.
