Deputy Secretary for Agricultural Development for the Ministry of Agriculture and Waterways, Dr. Tekini Nakidakida is currently in Bonn, Germany where he is co-facilitating the agriculture negotiations at the 62nd meeting of the Subsidiary Bodies (SB62) of the Conference of the Parties (COP).
The parties continue dialogue on the COPP27 decision called the “Sharm El Sheikh joint work for climate action on agriculture and food security”, which was adopted to implement the outcomes of the workshops during the COP23 program called the “Koronivia joint work on agriculture”.
“The last advice given to me by the Minister for Agriculture and Waterways, the late Honourable Vatimi Rayalu was for me to accept the invitation to attend the agriculture negotiations,” said Dr. Nakidakida.
“I dedicate this achievement to the late Hon. Rayalu and will do my best to facilitate this very important negotiations that deals with food security under climate change, expected to conclude on 24th June.”
Dr. Nakidakida added that outcomes of such negotiations paves the way and sets the platform for finance flows and engagement from NGO’s and International Organizations. Some of which we are already implemented or still in progress in Fiji.
