MINISTRIES DEDICATE NEW FINANCIAL YEAR TO UNITY AND COMPASSION

July 10, 2025

“Let's work together and serve the people of Fiji with Love. And that love must be the love of the heart and the love of service.”

This was the message by Reverend Tui Nuku Smith during his sermon at the combined Thanksgiving and dedication service for the Ministries of Agriculture and Waterways and the Ministry of Fisheries and Forests, held at the Centenary Church in Suva yesterday.

“In John Chapter 21, verse 15 – 18, Jesus entrusts the Kingdom and the Ministry of Christianity to Peter, calling him to be a person of service, to serve. Not to go and receive from people, but to go and offer services to people, said Rev Smith.

Honourable Alitia Bainivalu, thanked everyone for their hard work and remembered the late Minister Vatimi Rayalu for his dedication to the agriculture sector.

“It is a moment of reflection of unity and commitment to the values that guide all sectors of technology,” said Hon Bainivalu.

In her speech, Honourable Bainivalu encouraged staff of the three Ministries to continue working with honesty, patience, and respect. She spoke about the importance of learning from challenges, improving leadership, and supporting each other’s well-being.

"The financial year 2024-2025 has demonstrated your dedication, resilience, and unwavering service in your respective Ministries. You have worked tirelessly, addressed challenges, whether related to family events, resource constraints, or community needs, with professionalism and compassion," stated Hon. Bainivalu.

She reminded everyone that even small tasks matter and that every job helps serve the people of Fiji.

“Let us view ourselves not as separate entities, but as one, unified by a common purpose and shared strength. We should remember that the true strength of our ministries does not solely come from policies or programs, but from the hearts of the people who implement them.

Hon. Bainivalu emphasized that as the new financial year began, it was marked by renewed purpose and a refocused approach beyond budgeting and planning.

The service ended with prayers and a message of hope and unity as the ministries prepare for the new financial year.
