The Ministry of Agriculture today paid solemn tribute to the late Mrs. Patrinoto Telongo, a dedicated Field Assistant based at the Savusavu Agriculture Station, whose life was marked by tireless service to the farming community.
Speaking during the memorial service in Rabi, the Honourable Assistant Minister for Agriculture and Waterways Tomasi Tunabuna reflected on the profound impact Patrimoto made within the Ministry and beyond.
"Patrinoto embodied the spirit of service, her footsteps across our farmer fields, rain or shine, were more than a job, they were acts of devotion," said the Honourable Assistant Minister.
"Even in her final hours, she chose the field over rest and that speaks volumes about her heart."
The Assistant Minister also extended heartfelt gratitude to her grieving family.
"To Patrinoto’s family, thank you for raising and sharing such a remarkable soul, she was a quiet pillar of strength, and her absence is deeply felt throughout our agricultural stations."
Mr. Kabora, Patrinoto’s husband, shared her for her work, his reflections reminded all present of the personal sacrifices made daily by public servants in the field.
“Thank you Ministry of Agriculture and Waterways for the opportunity given to Pat, her last days was spent visiting farms her in Rabi and remember to love your husbands and wives and to also take time to rest,” he said.
Kabora’s words showed us how Patrinoto’s work was not just her duty, it was part of the family’s rhythm, their way of life.
In honour of her legacy, the Ministry is exploring ways to formally recognize her contribution, ensuring her memory continues to inspire current and future agricultural officers.
"Let us carry her spirit forward, not in sadness, but in strength," concluded the Assistant Minister.
"May her legacy remind us that true service lies not in recognition, but in the quiet, consistent actions that uplift others."
Mrs. Telongo is survived by her husband, children, extended family, and colleagues who hold her memory dear.
